What do NASA and your IT organization have in common?
The famous quote by Gene Kranz, NASA Flight Director of the Apollo 13 mission, also applies to your IT organization: “Failure is not an option.”
That makes it all the more important to manage the performance of the IT organization, use resources sensibly and effectively, and design structures and processes to fit the tasks at hand.
In theory, the various ITSM frameworks (ITIL®, FitSM®, VeriSMTM and others) provide the understanding and fundamentals needed to prepare IT staff for the tasks ahead. In practice, however, questions keep coming up whenever it is unclear how to translate theory into practice.
Here, too, there are parallels to NASA missions: during a mission, there is exactly one chance to complete the tasks successfully – the first one. Even if your IT organization is probably not usually dealing with the lives and health of astronauts, it is dealing with the health of your company and that of your customers.
Making IT staff aware of the organization's goals so that the right decisions are made, especially in risky situations.
“Failure is not an option.”

Business simulations for playful learning
This is where the Apollo 13 simulation can help: participants experience the principles of service management firsthand in a safe environment.
In a one-day training, participants experience the impact of service-oriented process management. They develop and improve their service management processes based on the KPIs achieved and their own experiences gathered during the game rounds.
Over a total of four game rounds, participants experience firsthand how valuable clear communication, targeted KPIs and effective processes can be – and how they affect an organization and its performance.
Individual insights for an effective and efficient IT organization
The insights from the Apollo simulation can usually be applied well to the challenges of your own IT organization. Difficulties caused by the wrong KPIs, a lack of process management or excessive bureaucracy can be traced just as well as poor communication, missing knowledge or unclear understanding of roles.
The Apollo 13 simulation helps uncover individual challenges and improve on them directly during the simulation.
